This morning, I woke up with a thought, but that’s nothing new; the good thing is I am sleeping better than ever and prioritizing my sleep a lot, and this is something that I have been missing for years. And when I say this, my purpose in writing this blog aligns with the topic that I felt to share with you. A very simple thought that came to mind around the importance of sleep and shadows. We sleep at night, night is a symbol of darkness, and eventually, a great night and a sound sleep in the night is way more powerful than one can ever imagine. How fascinating it is. Now, you might have realised where I am heading with this expression.
We find days as the part of our lives where we relate them as light, action, movement, work, and a time when everything starts functioning to achieve a desired or undesired goal and to embrace the cycle of nature as well. But most of us ignore the power of night, the power of darkness, the power of the opposite, the power of stillness, power of shadows. The whole time, we take it lightly; many avoid it, many can’t handle it, some have fears around it, some waste it, some spoil it, some want it but still not able to embrace it. That’s where the balance is lost; perceptions, faiths, beliefs, habits, choices and actions all make no sense and give rise to unwanted chaos and miseries from many directions.
But I am not here to tell you why you must sleep well, stress-free, and see the benefit that you all know already, and it’s up to you how you want to make it happen or how much that matters to you before it’s too late. My purpose here is to share the fact that we need to respect, embrace and acknowledge our darkness and shadows instead of considering them evil, wrong or a reason to regret. No human can resist darkness completely, nor can it be suppressed every time. That’s why we need to face this as our own because it is a part of us that needs equal respect and attention to bring balance, alignment, and a more authentic expression of our reality.
Every time we say no to our shadows, every time when we do not embrace our unique shadows, we invite masks to light, we become someone who we are not, and we give up on the promise that we have made with our soul, with our true purpose, with our unique selves, and with the divine.
Why am I emphasising this?
The reason is simple: we don’t have to act like someone who we are not. All we need is to appreciate our light and dark, day and night, equally. That’s where the balance lies, and that is where we get the opportunity to transmute our darkness into light. This process never ends because both sides exist every single moment, no matter what you think; it’s all about recognizing both and working on both in a most harmonious way in order to ascend and ground your journey towards a higher purpose, a purpose way higher beyond ordinary, predicted, and expected.
Whenever you see your or others’ darkness or shadow, promise yourself not to judge it; instead, think about how you can overcome it or alchemize it for the greater good. When I say this, I also mean not all light is just light.
